Inspired by Dieter Rams' belief that good design is as little design as possible, Kibardin focused on the essential aspects of the clock, eliminating redundancy. The result is a functional piece of art that turns heads whether placed on a desk or a wall. The Only clock is a testament to the fact that in design, simplicity often reigns supreme.
The Only clock stands out in the world of design due to its unique properties. As objects become more complex internally and streamlined externally, The Only clock embraces this evolution. It loses its massive material body and transforms into a logically and conceptually sound frame-like symbol. It is the first clock on the mass market with a hollow round face, a testament to Kibardin's innovative approach to design.
The clock is encased in a matte black and white housing made from ABS plastic with matte light grey and dark grey light dispersing screens. It comes with a detachable 5-meter power cord, a universal power adapter, and a special plug matching the power outlets in the region of intended usage. The clock measures 300 mm in diameter, ensuring comfortable time reading from up to 8 meters.
The Only clock is more than just a timepiece; it is an interaction piece. It dissolves its environment while fulfilling its function and projecting the symbolic image of eternally flowing time. It can be placed on the shelf or on the wall, in groups or alone, in residential as well as office spaces, making it a versatile addition to any interior.
The design process of The Only clock started in January 2016 and was completed in January 2017 in Prague. It involved a comprehensive understanding of users' needs and current trends. The process consisted of a Discovery Phase, Concept Design Phase, 3D Modeling Phase, and Detail and Prototyping Phase. The biggest innovation of The Only clock is that it replicates analog clock mechanisms with digital resources, showing time in a completely new way.
The Only clock is a winner of the prestigious Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2017, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation. The clock is a perfect example of understated design coupled with inventiveness and functionality, making it the right choice for telling the time at home or in the workspace.
